For the last 2 weeks ZOB has changed around their Area 5 high altitude frequencies. They have replaced 121.075 with 128.450 in the Brecksville Sector (FL240-FL320), and moved 121.075 into the Franklin Sector (FL330 and above) replacing 119.725. Not sure if this is a permanent change ?

I'm trying to keep an updated database on ARTCC high altitude frequencies and sectors, if anyone notices any changes in their area, anywhere in North America, I'd always be interested in any updates posted here in the forum. Thanks.

Hi Jetscan,

OK, here ya go.  Some of this you may already know...

For ZBW:

118.425 has been used in place of 126.225 lately.  It seems it's going back and forth...in fact, 118.425 is being used right now...

I've heard 118.55 used in place of either 133.45 or 134.95.  Can't be sure on that one but I think it's 133.45.  Maybe someone else on this forum knows for sure...

For ZNY:

134.375 has been occasionally used in place of 125.325.  Maybe a few times a month that happens.

If I come across more, I'll pass it on.

Happy Thanksgiving! Ron

The feeds that you can hear on this site may have a delay in them of about five seconds, so yes, they are basically real time.  I just compared the feed I'm providing and there is about a four second delay.  When I hear it on my scanner, it takes about four seconds to go through the Internet and reach you.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the info. I'm always interested in any noted frequency changes for any of the enroute ARTCC's. Yeah the ZBW 118.425/126.225 thing has been going on for a few years now, same with ZNY 134.375/125.325 I've also heard 121.125 used in that sector. That ZBW 118.550 is a new one for me, never heard it in use before ?

Happy Thanksgiving !

Yeah, the last time I heard 118.55 would have to be a few weeks ago, but I did hear it  smiley

If I hear it again I'll pay more close attention to it.

If you happen to remember the day and approximate time, might be able to confirm what sector it was from the archives ?

No, sorry, don't remember off hand...never thought of actually making a note of that...I'll keep listening for it and let you know if I hear it again.

I see that 118.55 is listed by the FAA, RCAG site Waterboro, and the Radio Reference database shows it as a spare for the low altitude Parso sector, so maybe it was subbing for 128.200 ?

I'm quite sure I heard outbound JFK flights being handed off from 126.225/118.425 to 118.55...I could be wrong.  That was a few weeks ago, ancient history for me  grin

I pulled up some Moncton Center archives around the same time and heard NAT traffic getting handed off to 118.55 as well, the routes on these flights would seem to confirm it replacing 134.95 (Augusta High Sector 02). Thanks again for the report !

You're welcome! And yes I agree that it's subbing for 134.95.  Plenty of outbound traffic on 118.55 tonight...

Here ya go Jetscan, maybe a new one for you...at this moment ZNY 134.375 is being used in place of ZNY 128.3. This frequency typically backs up 125.325 - it was doing that earlier today - but I've never heard it backing up 128.3 before.

Thanks. I also heard ZBW using 135.075 in place of 125.575 this afternoon, but just briefly like it was for a test. I also see 118.550 is still in use for 134.950, and a few days ago heard 132.900 being used as well.

This morning they seem to be back on 128.3 but ZNY is still transmitting on 134.375...

Hey Jetscan, you interested in the merging of sectors?  Like when two sectors operate on one frequency later at night?

Yes. I've got a pretty good handle on sector configurations during the day (that chart I attached in the other thread), I haven't got around to doing the same for overnight configurations yet, so I'll take whatever you have.

OK, here's a few that come to mind:

For ZBW, 135.8 (low) and 124.525 (high) combine into a high/low sector at night that operates on 135.8

Also for ZBW, 134.3, 134.0 and 125.575 merge into one high/low sector at night that operates on 134.3 (99% sure about this one...)  I can hear the ground controller on 125.575 (barely) at night but couldn't hear any planes.  Eventually I found that they were on 134.3 so I know this part for sure.  I'm 99% sure that 134.0 is also part of this merger.

ZNY 132.2 becomes a high/low sector at night, I'm just not quite sure yet what sectors are merged together.  Still working on figuring that out.

There is a ZNY 132.20 feed here on LiveATC with both good controller and aircraft reception, from listening to the archives during the overnight hours (between 05Z and 11Z), the controller was working high sectors 8/9/10 and low sectors 25/26/27 with all aircraft on 132.20.

8 = 124.77
9 = 134.32
10 = 133.47
25 = 135.45
26 = 133.17
27 = 132.20

The above sector numbers are based on ZNY NOTAM 08-01 "Radio Communications Frequencies" from July 15, 2008, the latest one I could find.

On the subject of ZNY, can anyone confirm if Sector 8, 124.77, is ever used ? It's listed as the BRNAN sector, FL330 and above, overtop sectors 9 and 10. I have not heard it in use for a few years now ?

From that NOTAM sector 26 is listed as 120.02 but from what I've heard they seem to use 133.17, is 120.02 still used, maybe as a backup ?

I noticed today that ZBW 124.525 will use 132.3 as a backup if needed.  Today there was some interference on 124.525 (you could hear it on my feed) and ATC had everyone go over to 132.3.  Within a half hour they were back on 124.525.

It turns out ZNY is using 124.775 today...

Also, ZNY 121.125 is active.  I can hear the ground controller for 133.5 on this freq.  All the aircraft are still on 133.5 but for some reason ZNY is transmitting on both 133.5 and 121.125.  Would be nice if it stays like that Smiley
