AAL180 Gear issue at KJFK
« on: January 05, 2011, 08:05:47 PM »
AAL180, a Boeing 767-200 declared an emergency on approach to JFK with a gear indication issue.  This subsequently turned into a fuel issue also as they circled trying to correct the gear problem.  They subsequently landed safely and without incident on Rwy 22R at JFK.

Clip edited for time and relative transmissions with problem aircraft.

Excellent audio quality.  Who is the feeder and where/what is the setup.

Good listen, great visual from the flighttrack. My two favorite JFK controllers handled this.  Both were cool as can be, which surely helped the situation.  The pilot(s) should also be commended for the professional handling.

It is nice to see something like this end well and cogs of the ATC machine working in concert so well.

Thanks! That's me for the bulk of it. Pretty intense sequence of events. I was hoping to hear this again.
