emergency of indeterminate nature....although I'll probably know in the morning.

About 1:00 the pilot says ' we've lost an idog system.' (!?)

Sounds like Bob Dylan's working the radio.

This just in:

The crew of an American Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N697AN performing flight AA-2092 from Miami,FL to New York La Guardia,NY (USA), reported a hydraulics failure and requested to divert to New York's JFK Airport rather than continue approach to La Guardia and have the equipment on standby, when the airplane was descending to 7000 feet on approach to La Guardia. The airplane landed safely on JFK's runway 22R about 21 minutes later, turned off the runway and taxied to the apron on its own power.

Don't think I've heard an airplane yet refuse to answer souls + fuel for an emergency.  Did I hear this correctly?  I'm sure it's not a huge deal (they deferred to company) but I thought it was quite interesting.

Sounds to me that at 1:00 they say "we lost center hydraulic system".

May have just been kinda busy, especially with all the air traffic in and around NYC.

Actually, I had to cut a chunk of dead air on the transmission after this statement so it could be that the controller indeed did contact company within that time to get the information. The guy, I'm assuming the pilot, might have been better off giving the info. I'm also unsure if this is the first call for emergency or if occurred with a previous controller. He might have been frustrated, like when the maitre de, the busboy and the waiter all take your order in succession and no one brings you the food.

Still, it sounded like a Basil Fawlty moment.

That's me working the plane. I'm pretty sure he gave me whatever info(SOB/fuel in lbs.)  that I asked for. The guy working final is one of our best.
