Air Force One Lands At JFK - April 6th, around 4:50PM ET
« on: April 06, 2011, 05:31:10 PM »
Just casually listening to the JFK Tower and Air Force One comes in for a landing. The airport held off all departures for about 10 minutes. 1:30 in the audio Air Force One calls in for landing then another pilot asks if he can turn his airline so his passengers can get a good view of Obama coming in.

Thanks for sharing! It is so odd to have radio silence for relatively (to KJFK at least, given day & time) long time.  8-)

It's unusual that they were using "Air Force One," and not "Air Force One Heavy".

Does anybody know for sure that it was the VC-25 (747)?  Perhaps they were using one of the smaller jets.

I don't recall them every appending heavy...  (Perhaps they do and I just don't remember.)

I have never heard them append heavy onto Air Force 1 in either all the feeds I've listened to, nor watching shows that have ever had it on there.

We have gone through this before....Air Force one is never referred to as heavy regardless of the type aircraft.

I thought I had read this before, but a refresher never hurts.
