Resolution Advisory, when the TCAS onboard the aircraft determines there is a signifigant threat of collision with conflicting traffic, it will issue resolution guidance (to avoid a collision) (Climb/descend) usally via the HSI or Vertical speed indicators. Crews are trained to immediately follow the resolution profiles presented with or without atc clearance.

RA means Resolution Advisory, the highest alert level of the TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System). Its purpose is to resolve a conflict by providing the pilot with aural and visual pitch commands. The pilot has to disengage the autopilot immediately as the escape maneouver has to be flown manually. Flight director commands as well as ATC advisories have to be ignored. The pitch command of an RA has always the highest priority.

I made a stupid post before the previous one, I have heard of Resolution Advisory before. Just not familiar with it enough to remember it when seeing RA.

So as the captain, do you have to report an RA to the company or is it automatically uploaded to software on the ground during routine maint?

I think I can hear alarms going off in the ATC facility
