Aussie pilot flying UA841 from Auckland to Melbourne calls Sale approach

In this recording from November 2001, an Australian pilot flying United 841 from Auckland to Melbourne calls the RAAF base at East Sale as a friendly gesture. Turns out the pilot was a former instructor there some years ago and "couldn't resist" calling them up as he passed abeam at FL380. I was unable to hear the reply from Sale approach due to distance.
