CHQ6093 at KJFK with Gear Issue
« on: July 29, 2014, 09:33:40 PM »
Chautauqua (Delta) 6093 departed KLGA and, after switching to departure reported a gear issue (wouldn't retract).  They circled the New York area for awhile before declaring an emergency and diverting to KJFK where they first did a low approach for a visual landing gear check from the ground and then circled to land.  The audio starts with their report of an issue to KLGA departure.  I edited out a lot of miscellaneous exchanges for vectoring.  Also edited out was most of the transmissions with other aircraft.  This is one of those rare occasions where the whole flight was covered by LiveATC monitors so we can hear all the relevant radio traffic.  You'll hear some exchanges with JetBlue 704 which was at minfuel and had received expedited vectors into KJFK and happened to be arriving at the same time as the emergency aircraft.
