While dusting off some more old downloads I came across an approach feed from the April 4th Citation accident at Kennedy. For easier listening I have cut down the longer sections of dead air. It's interesting to hear how busy a controller can get working just a few planes when normal operation goes out the window.

feel for the poor guy, got all these a/c's comin to him and all he can say is , JFK's closed find an alternitive a/port and let me know what its going to be. again....poor guy

Is whistling not allowed on the job?

When I was a ramp controller, when I'd get real busy and be getting my you-know-what handed to me on Comair's north ramp control in Cincy, I'd sometimes start laughing so hard at all the traffic I'd have problems keying up the mic.  Ya gotta have fun with the job.  If not, you'll lose your mind real quick.

EDIT: Nevermind, a search of myfoxny.com found the article and it wasn't as serious as it sounded on the clip (no wonder I didn't hear about it).

There's actually another thread on here somewhere of the tower audio of this incident.  It has the audio of the Citation's approach, the tower calling the Citation asking where they were, and the ground controllers issuing the Alert 3.
