EGPH

« on: October 30, 2008, 04:21:00 PM »

Read the post by Fryy and liked his idea, so today I headed over to Edinburgh International (EGPH) and recorded some audio to whack up here. For some reason, having the scanner plugged into the laptop seems to weaken some of the approach transmissions but it's listenable. Scanner was a Uniden UBC92XLT using an airband tuned magmount antenna on the car. (From Ebay and it's very good, by the way!)

Booklet and Charts here! http://flight.sanyjo.cz/mapy/United_Kingdom/EGPH.pdf

Dave + Admins, if you feel for whatever reason you're not comfortable with this being here feel free to remove!

If its recorded mate theres no need to worry about any legalities.

Good work btw. Are you aware of the Glasgow feed? (If its still working)

It is indeed recorded by myself earlier today in my car with a laptop and a scanner! I am aware of the Glasgow feed - In fact I'm the one who posted it here  evil

The recording itself is nothing special and the field is pretty quiet mid-afternoon, but thought it might make interesting listening for our friends across the pond. It has had silences removed. You'll notice it'll be on Tower or Ground one second and then in the next breath it'll be on approach - This is simply because the scanner was scanning all 3 frequencies and I removed the silences in between!

Just a thought - It'd be easy enough for me to put an hour or two of recorded stuff from Edinburgh up every now and again if there's any interest?

Thanks for taking the time to post this matey.  Much appreciated.

At the same time, I'd love to listen to the audio from a flight service station (FSS) or a Low Altitude Radar Service (LARS) station.

Eitherway, cheers!

LARS would be intresting. Depends if anyone on here lives close enough to a LARS unit and has the capability to record.

There is a website called Global Tuners which has an Edinburgh radio node as well as a Dorset UK node which covers the southern part of the UK. Of course these radios are tunable by the listener so there are no restrictions of what can be heard. You will have to register to listen to but ther are a good amount of good radios availible to listen to. 2 other nodes that are in the UK are Cumbria(great for HF listening) and Newbury. Also the Breda Netherlands Node gets tons of Amsterdam stuff.
