C-FSUV Engine Failure and Forced Landing
« on: June 20, 2011, 07:58:33 PM »
Sorry about the audio quality, but the input levels for YYJ tower steam are waaaayyy too high.

CADORS: A privately registered Glasair Sportsman, VFR Victoria to Victoria was inbound to Victoria from the NW to fly CCTS at Victoria. Aircraft declared emergency and "deadstick" in the vicinity of Cowichan Bay, no power to the aircraft. 911 informed, aircraft crashed in field, information from overhead VFR aircraft relayed to 911. Pilot called tower to say he was ok, but aircraft sustained significant damage during crash landing.

Being from the Gulf Islands, this one hits closer to home than most.  Thanks for the clip and I'm glad he's OK!

PS: Since he ended up being OK, I had to chuckle at the controller's suggestion regarding Duncan airport - if there's a shorter strip in the CFS, I don't know what it is.  Controller did the best he could though, including that suggestion.

so today i tweaked the volume on two of my feeds there seems to be a constant interference sound on them which is a bit annoying i checked it and it is after the scanners and so i will have to ask dave what he thinks it might be... or if anyone else has an idea. I should have a duncan airport and training freq up next month just waiting for a sound card...(canada post strike).

also The plane is back at the airport and i have seen it and talked to the owner/pilot. rough deal but at least he is ok.
