Stingsport Light-Sport crash near Lake Piru, Ca
« on: July 05, 2012, 11:00:08 PM »
N177N.  Did a touch and go out of Whiteman (KWHP), CA then got flight following at 4500', headed for the practice area, near the Filmore (FIM) VOR. SOCAL reported some weak radio contact, pilot reported "just made it through annual", then "just did a stall up to about 5000'", later SOCAL asks other pilots to call for him. RIP  :-(

He was in the Santa Clarita practice area.  Private pilots do stall practice to stay current.  Early speculation by some say may have developed from a stall into a flat spin, and possibly the parachute release handle failed.   We'll see what the NTSB finds out.
