I found the info about channel 9 on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines
"The entire fleet features "From the Flightdeck" on channel 9. This program allows passengers to listen to live radio communications between the cockpit and Air Traffic Control. "From the Flightdeck" can be disabled at the pilot's discretion." This is a nice feature of United, especially for us who like to listen to ATC!! I do have questions about the use of a scanner in the air but I'll start that thread in the lister forum.

Sure, no problem guys, I like sharing an interesting clip. Just curious when exactly this flight was as I work at Chicago center and work all east bound departures. Just curious when exactly this flight was as I work at Chicago center and work all east bound departures.
It was the United 538 flight, on Friday the 13th. Not sure about the exact times, but it departs 5 pm CST, and arrives 8 est.
