Funny, retiring captain.
« on: February 01, 2006, 02:52:10 PM »
Was just listening to KSEA feed (Feb 01, 2006 at 11:42am PST (a few minutes before this post, 19:42Zulu).

The tower contacted a flight and said they understood they had a retiring captain on board. The tower gave them their choice of runways and had other traffic hold short, "..for a retiring captain". There was also some chat about the tower having been informed of her age (Stephani Walloc). :-)

Anyway, check it out in the archives if you can.

Not long after that this happened

" SEATTLE - American Airlines Flight 875 from Sea-Tac Airport to Dallas/Fort Worth turned around and made an emergency landing around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Flight 875 landed smoothly and safely, with one engine out.

The MD-80 aircraft, with 112 people on board, lost power in one of its engines.

No one was injured and the passengers will reboard another plane. "
