thats kind of stuff pisses me off.
I do have a high powered laser and there fun to see in the air. but i would never point it at a plane or even a bird. and i'd never use it if i knew i was that close to a airport.

I guess this pisses me off becuase people like that mkae people like me look bad for owning one.

Hope he gets some time inside to think about shit!!!

Doing that should certainly be, at the very least, a felony.

We've had a few reports here. One time it came from an Air Force base. They found the guy and he said he was just showing his kid what it could do.  :|

Forgive my ignorance, but why would someone have a green laser other than for military applications?  The only lasers I know of for sale to the public are the red laser-pointers used when giving presentations. What's the deal?

Green lasers are perfectly legal and have been sold to the public for years.  They're much more expensive than red lasers, so that's probably why you haven't seen them around much.   Their selling point is they're visible at greater distances than red lasers, and you can see the beam itself in the air at night - good for pointing out constellations and whatnot (so the ad copy goes).

Of course "perfectly legal" doesn't come without restrictions.  Under 5mW lasers are legal to be used outside, provided you don't point them at airplanes, cars, people, etc.  Lasers over 5mW are only legal to be used indoors.

From the local fishwrap here in the Buff...

"Timothy J. Voigt, 42, his son, Eric Voigt, 20, both of Griswold Street, and Bradley J. Campbell, 28, of Barnard Street, all face multiple counts of felony reckless endangerment. "

They will be doing some time in the bin....which is exactly how it should be...

Griswold Street... I can see Randy Quaid and Chevy Chase now... Cant see the lines can ya Russ??? Thanks for the follow up. Glad to see the charges are of the felony variety and the situation is getting taken seriously.
