Is this a former JFK controller at ORD?
« on: June 08, 2015, 10:21:02 PM »
Listening to ORD today and I thought I recognized a JFK voice. Is this a former JFK controller working at ORD now? Or am I crazy?

Sounds identical. Same meter in his voice and tone.

Yeah, his name I believe is Dennis and I remember talk a year or so ago that he was leaving NY for Chicago.

Do you realize this is probably the only place on the Internet where people follow the careers of air-traffic controllers?

Breaking news: MIA dealt their best controller to SFO for two TRACONs and a baggage handler to be named later.

Yes, he's name is Dennis. Haven't heard him in a long time.

I follow the JFK tower enough that I recognize maybe 5 of the voices, but Dennis was the only I had a name for. My recollection of him is that he took more care than anyone else working tower to explain to the traffic waiting hours for take-off clearance just what the problems were. He often had no better idea of when things would move than anyone else did, but at least he tried to make clear the problem(s). The guy had/has the patience of a saint, spoke slowly and carefully, and seems to care as much about minimizing flight crew aggravation as in just moving metal.

One of the best!
