Jet Logistics 569 crash at Greensboro, NC
« on: April 01, 2011, 12:13:13 AM »
5:35 p.m., 3/30/2011. 100 foot overcast. No contact after missed approach. I removed most of the audio that wasn't related to the accident aircraft. (updated with a part I missed the first time.)

Not much else on this except the first article states about the pilot "his name has not been released"  but clearly by the audio tape it was a "her"

The people in the house were lucky.  RIP to the pilot and doctor passenger.

I learned that the pilot, Marcia Keaton, was a member of my flying club, Wings of Carolina. I did not know her myself but of course this tragedy is hitting very close to home for me.

Here's a local news story with some info:

And a statement on her company's website:

I really really hate having to listen to that silence at the end of the tower tape.   :-(   RIP to the pilot and passenger, thanks for posting this though... they never are easy to listen to.

How do you hear tower communications with Baron? I just registered on this site but can't seem to be able to listen to radio transmission.

The communications are in the clip attached to the first message in this thread (GSO.MP3) which should be visible if you are registered and logged in.  If you want to listen to the raw, unedited feed you'll need to search the archives for the appropriate date/time.

This is really tough to listen to especially when everything looks good during her go around! She read back the missed approach instructions then...
I'm keen to know what had happened!

Rest in peace to all the persons in this flight.

flaps - sad :(

This *could* be another case study in psychology. The pilot was apprehensive at first but the controller's tone would have been a powerful force when the passenger may very well have been listening to these coms, and wanted to get to the destination.

This is just speculation of course and not an assignment of any blame whatsoever. But if every crash is an opportunity to learn, this could be a valuable data point.

Dave,
Totally concur with your statement... I felt a pang when I heard "everyone is getting in".
Ego challenges no matter how subtle have no place in a go no go weather situation.  Not assigning blame either but it was the first thing that came to mind when I heard it....

RIP Pilot/Pax
