KAPA Cessna Skyhawk Multiple Bird Strike
« on: November 09, 2016, 06:22:57 PM »
One of the Cessna 172S Skyhawks (A New one from 2006  :-( ) in my flying club was involved in multiple bird strikes in night VFR as they were cruising through the Denver Class B airspace from KAPA to KFNL. The pilot was approx. 6-7 miles North of KAPA on impact, and was able to fly the plane safely to an emergency landing at KAPA with a rough engine and fouled control inputs (If you're reading this, I know who you are and you did a fantastic job!). There are some pictures of the aftermath over at imgur. The copy of ATC audio is attached and stripped of extraneous traffic and radio silence (KAPA Gets pretty lonely late at night).

Congratulations to the pilot for a safe and uneventful landing, and to the Denver Departure and KAPA Tower/Ground night crew for getting him home safely.
