We need a feed. I'm about 35 miles from the airport....

What would I need if I started a feed?

and I would need some cash... that stuff isn't cheap.

I think I'll have to get this antenna: http://www.grove-ent.com/BEAMII.html
Im about 35 miles away, so I'll need a good antenna.. and this one seems to get good reception from about 40 miles out...
As for the scanner...: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2501193&cp=&sr=1&origkw=Aircraft+scanners&kw=aircraft+scanners&parentPage=search
and I might need some of those cables... I can get those without monetary sponsorship, but the antenna and scanner will require it...
Im the vice president of the aerospace club at my high school, maybe the Air Force could help pay?? I'll ask my leaders.

Thirty five miles is a very long way, especially in hilly south central NC, based on what I know of the area and radio reception.

Instead of investing all of this time and cash in hosting a feed yourself that has a low chance of getting good reception from both ATC and aircraft, a better idea might be to call Wilson Air Center (linked here), the FBO on the field at CLT, and asking them if they would consider hosting a feed in return for an ad here on LiveATC.net.

Chances are they already have a PC with always-on Internet service  and would only need a scanner (something that they or LiveATC might be able to provide).   After that they would only need a cable connecting the scanner to the computer's sound card and the installation of OddATC, the software that converts the analog audio to digital and transmits it to LiveATC's server.

Better still would be to arrange to meet management there and sell the idea to him/her over FBO-provided coffee.  :0)

If all that doesn't work, a third idea would be to download and print one of the pre-made posters from this forum and hang it at this FBO to see if an interested party living much closer steps forward.
