Okay, I just snotted Pepsi out my nose.
I thought I had heard all of the good airline pilot jokes, then "Alan Alda" comes up with another boomer.
In the words of the honorable Borat: "Very nice!"

hah direct CLT.
And the thread takes a pointless turn: Sorry cessna, I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree and say that this isn't the Alan Alda that works in the tower
.
Here's the clip with his great moments. He chimes in about a minute into the clip and does the rest:

oh shoot, you are 100% correct. This isn't Alan Alda, I knew that. I'm not sure why I said that. This is the guy who made the comment about the Alpha and Bravo bridges being "the only bridges in New York that you don't have to pay to go over"

I like in the final seconds, after all the thanks and kudos were handed out, someones chimes in with " Is this New York" ?

ok now this really was funny lol...i know how boring atc can be when there is nothing better to do so naturally humor will help lighten the mood lol...and the fact that the controller didnt sound rushed at all and that he said it was after 11pm (which is when most airports start shutting down for the night) im guessing he didnt have as much work to deal with as he would during the day time...
