The crew of a Colgan Air Saab SF-340B on behalf of US Airways, flight 9L-4690/US-4690 from Hyannis,MA to Nantucket,MA (USA) with just 3 crew on board, reported they had lost their left hand engine while climbing towards 2000 feet out of Hyannis' runway 06. The crew returned to Hyannis, where the airplane landed safely on runway 06 about 16 minutes after departure.

As a former mechanic for colgan, I am appalled ,but not surprised that dispatch was even considering going to Boston,But that is where maintenance is,after closing HYA-MX, Sounds like  crew safety was not considered ,And nothing has changed since I left. God i am so glad to be out of the airline industry.
