This is a long clip but it is real time as the pilots of Sun Country 382 have comm issues. You'll notice the bad audio at the beginning of the clip and the interesting events that follow because of it.

KRSW is currently online and I'll be working on getting KFMY online in the next couple of weeks. I have to upgrade some equipment first.

Interesting clip...thanks for posting!

Sounds like issues on both ends...at the 4 min mark the controller references an issue with his radio...

The feedback you hear from the aircraft is peculiar. I'm guessing it was the plane and not the controller.

That must have stressed quite a bit the controler to see a 7500 popping on the screen!  especially with a pilot no answering on the radio! this is the kind of mistake you don't want to make.
notice a nice way of asking the question " confirm your intention to squawk 7500, sir."
image it's a real hijack, obviously you have to find a coded way to ask THE question.

With a 7500 squawk and the pilot not verifying that the flight deck is secure after repeated requests (I didn't hear him ever say that it was) I'd definitely be experiencing a pucker-factor moment, too.

From the sound of the audio and the timing of the communications (see Sun Country's lack of response to ATC during the dead air), I'm guessing the equipment failure was on Sun Country's side.

Professionally handled by all, but the pilot's gotta be red-faced over that one.

Nice.

What about 121.5?
Seems odd that all the frequencies were getting stepped on.

Thanks for that FlightAware link! That's great, I didn't even think to go there to check it out.
