Mooney Crash at Sky Manor (N40) NJ
« on: September 25, 2016, 03:19:29 PM »
I took out a lot of the non-pertinent traffic, pretty busy there today. He went around once and was in the process of another go around when the accident occurred. Early news reports are that the crash was fatal.  Registration was N526AM an M20J. Prayers to the pilot, passenger, and their families.

Do you have a link to the unedited feed? What was the time of the crash?

Crash was approximately 12:30 local. The actual crash is captured about 2 min before the end of the 1600-1630z file and the response effort continues into the next segment. The first call was around 1615z if I remember correctly.

Just listened to the audio. I landed about 25 minutes after. No clue he went down. There was a cop helicopter hovering, that's it.

Wow, hits pretty close to home, my in laws live a few minutes from the airport there, although I have yet to fly in personally. The local coverage was almost non-existent which is unusual for a fatal crash.
