Newark Continental 1129 Told To Go Around

The pilot did say "not looking good".  But why couldn’t he change his mind to land?

1129 on final, other a/c in position. 1129 saw a/c in position and not rolling didnt think it was gonna work. He then thought if controller got the a/c rolling it would work but too late. Thats what I get out of the recording.

Yeah, sounds like the controller had everything running fine.  Continental said it didn't look good.  Controller thought pilot was talking about the approach/winds.  He started to go around, then mentioned they could still make it if other guy rolled, but too late.  That's what I got out of it.  I guess it goes back to the other separation thread.  Let the controllers do the separating for the most part.  But the pilot is always welcome to go around if he thinks an unsafe situation is arising though.

Well, I had written a long write up and decided it was a bit harsh. One or two sentences shall do, replying to the first post.

As soon as you start letting pilots control your traffic, you have lost control. COA1129 tried to take back what he said...so sorry charlie. COA1129 doesn't know what will work...the controller does. "You're going around now"...classic.
