Revisiting the past - NY Approach hd_235
« on: November 14, 2006, 06:31:17 PM »
There used to be a thread here with this long clip posted of NY Approach (hd_235) that I think is from several years ago. I absolutely loved listening to this guy - he has an incredible talent for pushing a LOT of airplanes through the sky. Does anyone know if he is still an active controller, and if so, where can I listen to him?

I tried to post it but it said the session timed out.

As a follow-up (to myself) does anyone know what part of the NY TRACON it was? Seems like almost every airplane was going to Teterboro.

Actually, they were going direct Teterboro enroute to the ILS 22L at Newark.

You can see TEB (Teterboro) is the Initial Fix for 22L here:

HD (Jason Hubbard) was a controller at N90 (NY TRACON) in the EWR area.  The last that I've heard is that he is now a controller out in CVG (Cincinnati).  He really knows how to push tin and I have the clip, but it is about 15MB and the forums won't accept it.  I'll upload it to my site later tonight so you can download it.

Regards,
Jason

No need unless others want it, I already have it. I was just wondering where he was now so I could listen to more of him.

If you guys still need the clip, I made a link to it.

Use right click, save target as.

Edit on 2008-10-13 // Updated URL.  Domain was transferred to a different dedicated server.
Edit on 2021-06-25 // Removed URL as the links is dead.  Still have the clip but not uploading it again unless there is demand.

I came across this clip not long after starting to provide ATC services on VATSIM. I probably listened to the clip once a day, everyday for a 2-3 week period. Other than being very entertaining, it's incredibly informative for a student controller as an exercise in efficiency.  To the extent I can, I model my controlling style based on what I learned from hearing this guy talk, as well as other busy approach controllers.

keith, I completely agree. It works for us pilot's too. That is why I direct so many student pilot's to liveatc.net to listen and learn :)
