Severe turbulence, Windshear at TVC today forcing 2 go arounds
« on: January 12, 2013, 07:24:09 PM »
Was flying into TVC today, tower was reporting winds 250@20G36.  We first made an approach to runway 28, but at 400 feet our windshear warning system activated, forcing us to go around.  Climbed up and flew a wide pattern to let the winds settle a bit.  2nd approach tower gave winds 240@16G30 (if I recall correctly), but at 200 feet we got knocked by severe turbulence and commenced another go around.  Diverted to GRR to asses the situation and get the aircraft inspected, and made it into TVC on our 3rd try about 2 1/2 hours later.

Here's the urgent PIREP that was issued shortly after our ordeal:
UUA /OV TVC/TM 1618/FL004/TP CRJ2/TB MOD-SEV/RM LLWS
+/-20-30KT 400 DOWN TO 200FT ABV GROUND DURD= TVC

I can't get the archive to work, but the site says the feed is active.  Should all be between 16z-1630z

Looks like the feed is transmitting silence so disabling it for now.
