Quote from: An SCT controller
At LiveATC is the clip of a complete radar/radio failure at SCT on June 22nd. I was the controller involved on 124.6, and my colleague was on 134.2. This SUCKED big time. We lost all radar and ALL radio comm ability. We have three primary radio channels, and if everything goes to h*ll we have our orange box to plug into so we can bypass everything and talk to you.

The orange box failed, too. I sent five or six transmissions for every one you hear on this clip. I am posting this as a union representative so I don't get fired by the FAA. The file I downloaded is too large here, but go to ATCLive and listen for yourself.

When the controller had posted that on a closed forum only, he may not be too happy with his name now being in a public forum. Most people here don't post with full/real names - you and me included...

1) AOPA forums aren't all that "closed"
2) He signs his real name to all his posts. (as well as his tail number)

But fine, I edited out his name.  However frequency and time is all one needs to identify a controller.
