A Swiss Avro RJ-100, registration HB-IYT performing flight LX-2808 from Zurich to Geneva (Switzerland), was accelerating for takeoff from Zurich's runway 28 when Tower reported sparks from the left hand side of the aircraft, emergency services were already alerted. The crew rejected takeoff about 50 knots over ground and stopped the aircraft, Tower stated the sparking definitely came from one of the left hand engines and the aircraft returned to the apron.
