Amsterdam / EHAM feed
« on: November 01, 2007, 07:26:56 PM »
Good evening everyone,

As I have had some technical problems in the past with the laptop providing the
Amsterdam feed, it has not been online much lately. With a new laptop running
under Windows Vista, a lot of these problems seems the be solved.

The Amsterdam / EHAM feed is now online again, with some mixed frequencies
like Amsterdam radar, Schiphol approach and Schiphol tower. If there is any need
for other frequencies, please let me know.

Happy listening !!

René.

Just out of curiosity, who provided the EHAM #2 (which had ground and start-up in it) feed and is that feed going to be permanently down now?

But it's great to have some EHAM feed up anyway. :-)

I think the EHAM feed is a good approach/departures feed and listening to the current traffic I would hesitate to add more frequencies; it is busy enough as it is now.
Compliments for the technical quality of the feed, good reception, good readability.

Hi, good morning,

listening to the current traffic I would hesitate to add more frequencies;
it is busy enough as it is now. Compliments for the technical quality
of the feed, good reception, good readability.

Okay, thank you for your positive feedback. At the moment the feed is scanning
several frequencies, like Schiphol ground, tower, app/dep and Amsterdam radar.
At peak times and busy hours, I set the feed on Schiphol approach/departure only.

Best wishes from the Netherlands,

René.

Ok. That sounds good. Yeah, when it's busy it can get very confusing if there are lots of frequencies in the same feed. :)

And yes, it's a good feed and the quality is great.

Okay, thank you. And to answer your original question, no I don't
know the person that is providing the other Amsterdam feed(s).

Regards,

René.

dutchmil/René many thanks for providing your feed.

Now EHAM#2 is up again, I'ld like to take some time for a review of that stream:
Reception and readability is good; however it feels like too many busy frequencies are scanned at the same time... splitting the stream in three (tower, ground and startup/clearance) may be appropriate given the size of traffic.
(No offence intended: one stream is better than none at all! :-) )

Edit:
I listened into the evening and with subsiding traffic it became possible to track planes... My 11pm-midnight (local time) verdict is "nice amount of traffic" and "great stream".

Good morning,

Schiphol ATC had some major computer problems today, causing a lot of
delays. Many conversations were referring to it, hopefully a lot of listeners
enjoyed the feed today. The situation is back to normal now.

Here is a link to the problems:

René, is the EHAM tower feed down that you posted in this thread?  It says file not found for me.

If there is another link, please let me know.  I'd love to listen to it.

Sorry, the feed was down for a couple of days, but it's now up again. The feed is now
set to approach / departure, but will be scanning other frequencies later today aswell.

Hope this helps,

René.

Hi, good evening,

Is that a permanently or just for some period of time? :?

Not permanently I hope, I am changing my Internet provider/connection
in order to have my own dedicated server. In the future I will try to stream
also a live radar picture, here is an example:

Hope this helps,

Good evening,

Feed is back up again, due to the low visibility at Schiphol right now, it's very interesting listening tonight.

For those of you interested, an AN-225 should be arriving at EHAM within two hours ....

The feed is set to Amsterdam radar for the moment, but will try to follow him on arrival.

Happy listening !!

Thanks for your comments .
Lately the stream was off line regularly. The reason is that because of my work I have to leave it unattended for days in a row. At present I'm using an old laptop to run the stream. I noticed that after a while some sort of "overflow” occurs and the OS just crashes. I'm working to fix the problem.
When I replace the laptop with a desktop computer I will install a second audio card so I will be able to split the ground and tower frequencies making it easier to track flights. This may take a while however.

André

What's going on with the EHAM#2 feed at the moment, because I, at least, cannot hear anything in it. Well, apart from sounds that sound like occasionally door banging and shifting of a chair, and maybe clicking of a mouse. Has this feed accidentally turned into monitoring the feeders home or something? :-D Because it certainly doesn't sound like ATC to me. Anyone else noticed?

To me it sounds like a stuck mike in an office... I recall hearing a ringing phone in the background.

Yeah, but it certainly doesn't sound like ATC. Right now you can hear music playing there, like in the background. Like a radio or a stereo. The feed is certainly not picking up any ATC frequencies now.
