Hi all,
Unfortunatly with my cable provider raising their internet prices, I wont be able to continue feeding the DFW East feed. I hate that it has come down to this, but my bill went from $24 to $49 overnight.

I hope there is someone out there that would like to take it and continue feeding it. If you would like it email me and let me know, sirclown82<at>yahoo<.>com. I may try to find one of the hotels around here and see if they would allow my to set up my station in a hidden place. If they will it will be a remote site that can connect to by remote desktop connection and manage that way.

The 17th will be the latest that the feed will be up, possibly even before if I can't find someone to sponcer the feed.

It's been fun, but i'm not giving up that easy. Dave, i'll let you know the final word as the 17th gets closer.

Chris

Have you looked into other Broadband options?  Verizon DSL (in the US) recently dropped their prices to something like $19.95 per month for respectable upload/download speeds.

There are several websites that will show you all of the broadband companies in your area.   If you haven't already, check out DSLReports Broadband finder to get an idea of what is in your neighborhood:

Good luck,

Ive looked into that but i have read that there are problems with the pppoe connections and feeds. Only problem with dsl is that you have to have home phone service, and we dont need that. Im still looking into my options though. Keep Y'all updated

Sorry to hear about that, Chris.  I hope you can find a temporary home for the feed.

Sorry to hear your ISP fees are going up.  It's amazing how oit can go from $24 -> $49!  Are you the only one?  I'd hate to see how many customers are gonna leave.

Thanks for hosting the feed though... Smiley

I think thats how comcast just does business. I see commercials all the time for cable internet for 19.99 for the first 3 months then it goes up to $50. I was what i thought was a one year contract with them, but i guess not.

Nothing tricky here, just a promotional offer which expired.

Contact Comcast, tell them of the offers by other providers, that you plan to cancel if they dont match that offer.  I did, and got $29 for a year, down from the standard $49.

I did that and all they said to me was "we currently have no promotional offers for the high speed internet." I asked them if there was any way I could get the 29 plan back and they told me no. Their customer recovery wasn't doing a very good job that day.

Next tuesday and wednesday I am going to go around and try to find out if someone would spare some  bandwidth for text tag advertising. i'll keep y'all updated.

try this link out

they might be willing to increase their capacity?  right now, sounds like they have a scanner on all freqs rather than dedicated feeds......

Unfortunatly not. I tried the city of Grapevine and they straight up said No. and most of the businesses around here are small buisinesses that dont have any internet except dialup. Hopefully soon though something will happen.

Chris I live in Grand Prairie and have Comcast. I just don't have every thing I need to go with a live feed. Maybe we could get together and get this feed going again. CAI page works good at home but to many firewalls at work.
