DFW East is about to go down for the night. There is a NASTY storm headed this way. On my way to my house after work, i saw plenty of lighting. With cable internet, if you dont turn your equipment off, your just asking for a lightning strike right into you comp. eq. Thats how it will be for DFW East anytime there is a storm headed this way.

Starting 26-Jul-05 @ 23:30 till early daylight.

Isn't your cable line grounded to your main electrical grounding rod where the cable service enters your house?  Mine is and I went 'round and 'round with the cable company about this.  Anyway, it's their cable modem that will get fried wink

Hope the weather wasn't too bad...

It was pretty nasty. The cable is grounded outside, but a direct hit by lightning or even a surge can travel through the copper core and do damage to your eq. Cable internet modems tend to be prime targets of lightning bolts too. Who knows though. Smiley

A serious storm just arrived, may be down, or up, depending on the situation.
