Some of you have E-mailed me about the PDX Tower and Approach feeds being down a bit recently. There was some unknown problem that started about a week ago with the feeder machine that caused it to just die for no apparent reasons. A number of actions were taken to repair it but it continued to fail more often. The system was completely rebuilt today (software) and it up and running again.

I'll be out of town for a week and unable to work on it further if it turns out to be a hardware issue rather than software, but I do have active monitoring set up on it now so I will know if it goes down again. I would have posted this in the feed outage forum but apparently I don't have access to post there. Thanks for your patience, not sure where all the instability popped up from, but hopefully it is gone now.

ok looks like this tread got moved to the right place. The feeder went down again. At this point I can only assume it is a hardware problem. There is only a blank screen, so no BSOD, no error messages, nothing in the logs. Next week I'll be looking at replacing the feeder computer, but until then it may only be up for short periods.
