LSZH Zurich feeds shut down
« on: August 23, 2009, 09:39:26 PM »
Our feeder there is moving - hats off to him for excellent service over the last few years.

If anyone in the Zurich region is willing to volunteer to host receivers, please contact me.

I've become a real "fan" and many controllers' voices are familiar to me. Pilots can surely judge it better, but I have often thought that they offer an excellent and kind service.

Many many thanks to the feeder (Milka?), and all the best!!!

There is a new volunteer for LSZH but for now he is only interested in feeding (part-time, when weather is good) the information channel of LSZH, which is a VFR-only channel.  Hopefully we will get a few more volunteers with scanners who can feed some of the busier ATC channels.

question:

... if you don't mind my asking ... is it illegal, if i live in germany (close at the border to switzerland) and provide ATC feeds (like Swiss Radar LSZH center etc.) from switzerland?

 :?

that was my favorite feed, i'm so sad about the fact, that this feed is down forever... and i'm planing to invest in equipment to provide those feeds again
in the same quality and "arround the clock", as the feeder before... but... "is that approved?" :-)

I believe it could be illegal to transmit from Germany, but I am not certain if that means broadcasting from your location or broadcasting German airports.  I think it is the latter, since Germany has no jurisdiction over Switzerland aviation.

a curious thing about the "german" airspace above my head, is the irrefutable fact,
that it is controlled by skyguide (swiss). there are a lot of discussions between
politicians and the population of my region in south germany.
remember the "überlingen mid-air collision" july 2002  :-(

but anyway... who can tell us the truth...
is it legal or illegal to transmit swiss ATC from germany?

transmitting and private listing to the german airports and ATCs is definitively forbidden... :-(
or should we say "not approved!" ?  :-P

For me the Zurich feeds were the most intersesting of all to listen too and I'm really dissapointed that there gone.
I would like to join you guys in saying a huge thank you to the feeder for providing such a clear and constant feed.
I would like to download some archive recordings but I don't see the old airport feed archives just the new info and radar feed. Is it still possible to get hold of LSZH TWR & APP archive downloads ?
