Nordo aircraft???

Are there any ATC's here that can explain this to me which I heard while there was an aircraft with no radio communications.  They were telling other pilots that the aircraft was nordo.  Never heard this.  is this ATC slang or is this actual phraesology?

That's a pretty good question. I don't think it's actual phraseology. Not really much you can say when that happens. It's just over time people have said NORDO for aircraft that are no comms. It's pretty much widely known and accepted.

NORDO means no radio. If its an airline we will try to get them on guard. If that doesn't work we will try to find company in the airspace and have them try. If that doesn't work we call that airline's ops and tell them what flight and what freq we need that plane on and they send them a message. Hope this helps.

Well it is in the pilot/controller glossary.  Check under N for NORDO and it refers you to Lost Communications.  Some things just are not covered in the .65 and require some plain language
