I was listening to JFK C/D today, and the controller asked a few planes whose transmissions were not coming across to switch to 125.05.

I've never heard this frequency being used before... what exactly is it used for?

Ah, okay.  So using 125.05 would be more easily readable from the ramps when it's not coming across on C/D?

no, maybe the transmitter/receiever was acting up on the CD freq, so they switched everyone to GH. At RDU we're combined on ground freqs most the time, but lets say we get a stuck mic on 21.9, we swtich everyone to 21.7 so we can continue on.
