Air Canada Flight AC34 turned back after taking off at 9 a.m. PT, destined for Toronto with 224 people on board.
Preliminary reports said there was smoke on board the jet and possible problems with one or more engines. But Air Canada officials issued a statement on Twitter saying the landing was prompted by an indicator light, and the reports of smoke were erroneous.
In April 2009 the same flight made an unscheduled stop in Honolulu after 15 people were injured during air turbulence."
