anc anchorage international
« on: January 11, 2009, 06:52:30 PM »
Is there a feed for anchorage international airport?  If there is one on the way, it would be nice to be informed so that I'll be able to run and grab it when it comes.

Would somebody let me know if i got the airport code as well?

Thanks,

Chananya

IIRC there was a PANC feed some time ago, but it could be that the feeder moved or had to discontinue it for another reason.

Thanks.  What does the "P" stand for, because when I look at "Flytecomm.com" it doesn't put the "P" in front.  It is listed as "ANC".

Airports in the lower 48 are prefixed with 'K'.  Alaskan airports are prefixed with 'PA', and Hawaiian airports with 'PH'.

Here's a full listing.

What you are noticing is the difference between ICAO and IATA airport codes.   The ICAO code is the international airport code as defined by ICAO and is four characters, while the IATA code is the three character airport code used by reservation systems with which the public is more familiar.

Airports beginning with P are pacific airports, while airports beginning with PA are Pacific Alaska-only airports.  Airports beginning with K are airports found in the 48 contiguous United States.
