Birdstrike at Washington Dulles
« on: January 22, 2010, 05:50:08 PM »
A birdstrike has reportedly occurred this afternoon at Washington Dulles. A UAL aircraft, possible UAL915 (B752) departing for KSFO ingested a bird on takeoff just around 4:20pm local time. Plane circled, landed safely, minor delays reported. I dont have access to the feed and I can't confirm it yet, anyone have a chance to listen to the feed?

The IAD feed is down.  can't listen to an archive and UAL915 never departed.

UAL 915 did infact impact a bird on take off, leveled off at 5000, and returned to the airport. The bird was ingested into the right engine.

It is now in the air, having departed KIAD at 19:29 EST.

I'm assuming this is a replacement aircraft...

As I type (20:22 EST), that aircraft is over Northern Kentucky. New arrival time into KSFO is now 21:23 PST.
