BOS question
« on: September 28, 2008, 09:55:58 PM »
Anybody know why BOS is using 33L for arrivals tonight with calm winds? Ceiling is 300. I've heard six or seven go-arounds in the last hour. Why not 4R? Isn't that the category III ILS?

Runway closure, as per the BOS NOTAM:

09/334 (A4245/08) - RWY 4R/22L CLSD. 28 SEP 18:00 2008 UNTIL 30 SEP 16:00 2008. CREATED: 27 SEP 21:57

If you ever want to check NOTAMS or TFRs at a US-based airport/airspace, here's a link:

thanks for the resource - I listen often but the gf's sister was flying in for a family funeral so I had another interest in figuring out what was going on.

Just heard two more go-arounds. Not a typical Sunday night.

most of the go arounds ended up diverting to BDL.
Apparently 1000ft RVR's aren't a good thing.
