Boston Approach frequency changes
« on: November 02, 2008, 07:23:43 AM »
I was just notified by a Boston TRACON controller of a frequency change at A90:

120.6 now belongs to the Lincoln Sector (a sector not always used, formerly 127.2)
127.2 now belongs to the Plymouth Sector (south of Boston approach/departure sector)

We will make the frequency changes some time this week on those feeds.

Dave

Interesting...any other info behind the switch, dave?  Perhaps better line-of-sight with the 27.2 transmitter within the lateral boundry of Plymouth sector?  I can't remember where the transmitters are up there off the top of my head.

The primary transmitters are all at the same place.  The reason was numerous complaints of bleedover and poor reception over the past four years.  Oddly enough, on an early morning flight from Nashua to New Bedford another radio friend of mine did some coverage testing with them prior to this move.  Didn't know anything would come of it!

Change has been made at the receiver site.

Are the transmitters for all the sectors all in the same location? I know you mentioned that the Plymouth and Lincoln sector transmitters are in the same place.

Another question do they plan on making any other changes in the future and have they added any frequencies?
