Instead of going for the Diamond F22, which is optimized for 2 meter (144Mhz) HAM radio, why not try Diamond's D-777?
The D-777 is optimized for civil and military airband. I think it's a newer offering. Specs are off the website selling it - second antenna down:
http://www.wsplc.com/acatalog/Airband_antennas.htmlFrequency bands 120/300MHz * Gain 3.4/5.5dBi * Type 5/8, 2x5/8 * Length 1.7m * Radial length 52cm * Mast size 30-62mm * Socket SO-239 * Wind velocity 60m/sec * Weight 1.0kg
Buy the D-777. and let us know how it is!
I been thinking about getting one, but I haven't found an online dealer in the US that sells it. I'm sure any Diamond retailer could special order it though.
