Diamond F22 Antenna

Hi everybody.

I'm planning on setting up my own feed...and Im interested in rigging up an antenna on my roof to increase the reception/range.

Ive read through many threads in the forum and its quite clear that a J-Pole antenna is one of the best to rig up. However, I've been told that this other antenna...called a Diamond F22 (http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/4129) is much better than the typical J-Pole antenna.

What are your views on it? How does it compare with a J-Pole antenna in terms of range, power usage etc.

From what people have told me, it works better in certain situations... Some aspects are better, and some are worse.

I think overall the diamond will be better, but you might not want to spend $100 compared to $15. Thats why I bought a Jpole

Instead of going for the Diamond F22, which is optimized for 2 meter (144Mhz) HAM radio, why not try Diamond's D-777?

The D-777 is optimized for civil and military airband. I think it's a newer offering. Specs are off the website selling it - second antenna down: http://www.wsplc.com/acatalog/Airband_antennas.html

Buy the D-777. and let us know how it is!  I been thinking about getting one, but I haven't found an online dealer in the US that sells it.  I'm sure any Diamond retailer could special order it though.
