Code 7500 at CYYZ
« on: February 18, 2005, 04:55:42 AM »
Someone on another forum was trying to convince me that there was an incident on the Toronto feed late Thu night or very early Fri morning involving an aircraft with a confirmed code of 7500. Can anyone verify this?

Cheers

Sqawking 7500 indicates you have been hijacked.  ATC will confirm this with you so if you do not respond to them anymore they know it's the real deal and won't keep calling you on the radio.

I spose you could check the archive... but I'd be surprised if it were true because nothing's on the news about it.

Come to think of it, if I flew heavy metal and were hijacked in this day and age... i'm not sure i'd want to squwk 7500!

Since there hasn't been anything newsworthy stemming from this then I'll reveal the origin. http://www.airdisaster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71223 The author doesn't have a history of crying wolf in my experience. The whole scenario does seem very strange though.
