Fayetteville, Arkansas feed
« on: January 20, 2008, 07:44:05 PM »
Regarding the KFYV site (new), how about also including Memphis Center 126.1 low and 132.55 high?  The Memphis Center antenna farm is just 1 mile or so from Drake Field to the west.  Any chance of including those two frequencies?

Thanks for any help.

This would be awesome however there are not too many Center people here these days. Some say it clutters the feed but I think that Fayetteville shouldn't be that busy of an area to make a difference.

The busy days for FYV is on saturdays during college football season. Mostly when the U. of A are playing home games. FYV is controlled by Razorback aproach, and they go into whats called high traffic gates. Kind of crazy when you hear memphis center say "N1234 maintain 120 knots till scran turn left fly heading 320 for spacing into FYV"

Fayetteville feed is not that busy.  Hope whoever established the feed will consider that fact.  Kind of quiet most of the time.  128.475 is at Russellville, AR, not Fayetteville, AR.  Again, 132.55 and 126.1 at FYV would be nice to hear.  Alot of inbounds to Memphis from the west coast as well as inbounds to DFW can be heard.   It is really neat to listen to when DFW gets stacked up because of weather.

I see what your saying, what I meant is 128.47 is sector 1 at zme and 126.1 is sector 2 in zme and sector two is 90% of the time combined up with sector one using 128.47 because we are having a lot of transmitter problem with 126.1. The only time we toggle to 126.1 is for traffic way south around mena because 128.47 wont get anybody below 8,000 feet. Also, 126.1 in all of the faa's wisdom, decided to place the transmitter for 126.1 in a vally.  Go figure! If one used 126.1 for a feed you would hear the controller talk because their voice would transmit on both freq's, but you might not hear the aircraft.

Also forgot some, sorry for the many post's. For DFW stuff 132.42 and 125.47 sectors 21 and 20 would be good for dfw and iah stuff. On the BYP 5 star one of the big transitions is LIT. ZFW in the summer is always cutting us off with DFW traffic.

ZMEATC, since ZME closed 119.25 at FSM, are you using 120.175 after the tracon closes at night at FSM?  I used to be able to hear you at FSM during the daytime, but it is gone now.  I see that you flip the switch to talk at the Mena aircraft.

Also, did you guys open up a RCO on Mt. Magazine?  Sometimes during the week I will hear 132.55 at my house as well as 126.1.  It really booms in and I never have been able to hear it that clearly.  My girlfriend's brother-in-law says that the FAA put some antennas on Magazine (he's a surveyor).  Maybe that is why those two freqs boom in on occasion when you toggle the switch, huh?  I mean, I am talking just a rubber duck antenna on my scanner, whereas before it took an outside Sporty's antenna to hear 119.25.

KFYV, many thanks for including 126.1 and 132.55.  I can see the inbounds to DFW coming over/ near my house (Roland, OK), so it would be great to hear the ground side of the conversation.  Inbounds to DFW from XNA come right over my place, btw.

At FSM the freq we use for the appch ctrl is 120.9. I'm not sure about the tower freq cauuse I don't work when they close. There is two sectors my area has that are always combined. Sector two which is the FYV area, and sector one which is the HOT and RUE area. Sector two is 126.1 and sector one is 128.47. The freqs in these two sectors are real bad so we flip the switch between the two freqs. Example: aircraft departing Mena we issue them 128.47 because for some reason we can't hear them below 4,000 feet. Depending on which way they are going, we can't hear them on 128.47 above 6,000 feet. So, once we get them on 128.47 we switch them to 126.1

About Mt. Magazine, I have no idea. We have been wating that forever. All I know is 126.1 is at FSM and 128.47 is at the airport at RUE.

I think 128.475 is up on the hills north of RUE, where the radar is.  I used to live in Clinton, AR and I could routinely talk to center at 1800 feet msl when off of Clinton, 4m4, on the old freq 132.3.  Kind of funny back then, one had to talk to HRO 126.85 on  IFR launch, but not until 5,000 feet, whereas I could talk on 132.3 at 1800 feet pretty quick.  Figured that out on my own.

Many thanks to FYV for including MEM center.  Sounds great!  I appreciate it.
