Feeds during hurricane IGOR
« on: September 17, 2010, 11:36:23 AM »
With IGOR bearing down on us & about to hit in the next 48 hours, Bermuda Airport will be closing at some point this weekend, and therefore there will be no communications (TWR, GND, etc) to feed.  And I doubt there will be any airliners flying over the top of it, depending on how high it reaches, so there shouldn't be any New York Center communications for me to feed either.

I will leave the TXKF-ZNY feed up anyway, as quite likely the USAF/NOAA Hurricane Hunters will be flying through it, so they should be in communications with New York Center.  If anyone can suggest any special frequencies they (the Hurricane Hunters) may use in addition to or in lieu of the standard ZNY frequencies, I'll add those to the TXKF-ZNY scanner.

My question here is, seeing how Bermuda Airport will be shut down anyway, do you think it is a good idea, or bad idea, for me to feed ATIS on the TXKF (Bermuda Airport) feed?  This would allow listeners, if they're interested in such things, to monitor IGOR's wind speeds as it passes over us.  Just a suggestion, but would be interested to know what others think.

All of the above is, of course, until my electricity goes out :-D (due to downed power lines), as most times it does.  And it will be intersting to see if my $1000 antenna will stand up to its claims of being able to withstand 120 mph winds 8-).
