Congratulations on what will be a journey with many exciting firsts (first solo, first cross country solo, exam day, first time flying as a certificated pilot, etc).

At what airport are you training?

I remember my 1st flight. I screamed like a 6 year old school girl.... Although come to think of it, that might have been my Flight Instructor screaming.

Awesome!  Once you've got the bug you're hooked for life.  There's no getting over it.  I remember my solo day well.  It was a beautiful fall morning here in Reno.  My instructor and I left Reno and headed a few minutes north to Stead field.  We made a couple of landings together to test the waters (and my nerves) and then the instructor stepped out, shook my hand and said, "Don't be gone too long.  Congratulations!"  Then I was off.

It was amazing how natural it all felt.  Once in the air and in the traffic pattern for Stead, several other planes came and ended up sharing the moment.  There were a couple of 'old timers' that quickly realized what I was doing and cheered me on over the radio.  My instructor called from the ground to be sure I was okay.  Around and around I went to make three nice touch-and-gos and then a full stop landing to let my instructor back on.  It was a complete thrill.  It's hard to explain unless you've done it.  This was one of the high points of my life!  Even though that was a while ago now I still think of the joy I had during my initial pilot training every time I fly.

Keep it up!

The first flight feeling is amazing, isn't it?  I took my first flight in Nov. of 2007 out of KVNY in a Cessna 172 (with the Garmin G1000 system, which was intensely cool!)  My parents bought me a free beginner's lesson where I had half an hour of ground briefing and half an hour of the instructor letting me maneuver the airplane, and perform the take-off and landing!

It was an immense feeling, one I won't soon forget.  It was much different from being on a jetliner, because you could feel every little bump and jolt that comes with a single engine passenger plane, you feel much more connected with the air around you than you do anytime else.  Congratulations on your first flight, and I'm very glad you enjoyed it.  I'm saving up for lessons, and I hope to have enough to start in late June

Congrats nitescream - there is nothing quite like it.  What starts off making you a little nervous will eventualy bring you a different (relaxing) state of mind.

I remember my first few flights and I certainly remember my first solo.  Memories for a lifetime.

Best of luck with your training - be careful out there.  I'm sure you will do fine.
