Just asking what you think, it is fs9 running maxed out on the display options, I run 1440x900 and cropped the image.

I have FSX, but sadly lack the super computer to run it. FSX has more eye candy, but it comes at a cost.

I have fsx but I need a new computer before I can even hope to get it running well, fsx looks worse on my computer than fs9. I need to get 2 gig's of ram, and about a $250 video card.

I bought FSX when it came out and was also very disappointed in its performance.  Even after SP1, it still runs poorly, so I'm sticking with FS9 for a long time.

I've got FSX, but use it strictly for VFR flying, up in the mountains of Alaska and Montana. I generally use it when exploring new places. My computer just can't handle any kind of IFR flying, whether that is due to bad weather or flying the airliners. I use FS9 for flying around the big airports.

FSX was built a little to early for directx 10. Nothing can run that well yet. My friend has a quad core with 4 gig's ram and two 8800 sli and that just almost runs it well maxed out.

Well I do not agree and I am at a complete loss as to why most of you are still running FS9 ? when most of you have a much faster SYS then mine ?

FSX ROCKS !!! Ya baby !! Here is what I have FSX/ASX/UNE/ with lots of other addons sorry to many to list running on VISTA 64bit using FSINN to connect to vatsim and get this ...... all settings  set to (Very HI to max) with FPS locked at 25 and it never goes down much even at airports with lots of pilots/ATC on !!

I know that most of you are siting there thinking this guy is full of crap and your very old outdated FS9 works fine

But believe me when I tell you FSX will not only look and feel much much better it will out perform your old sim even with the same settings !!

ASX with X Graphics makes FS9 look like fs2000 and NO I do not work for activesky but thats what toped it OFF and now flightsim looks almost like real life X Graphics and ASX was the icing on the cake  :-D

The only trick I have up my sleeve is running all of the adon stuff on a remote PC to free up CPU since my PC is not the top of the line

Here is my outdated SYS running Vista/FSX (believe it or not it runs FSX faster then FS9 when it was on WinXP or Vista with setings up higher then FS9!!)

OS=Vista 64bit
CPU=AMD64x2 3800
Ram=2g
Video=2X Geforce 6800XT/Matrox TripleHead2go Digital (this is for 3 outside views full screen)
Monitors=4x 20inc Samsung SyncMaster 203b Digital (one for undocked panel)
Other stuff=well to many to list but here are some (CH Yoke with Peds/Goflight MCPPRO auto pilot/Full radio stack

Other PCs run all the Addons via WideFS

Anyway dont let anyone "even yourself" say OOOOOOO that PC is to slow and it wont run FSX

BS !! and thats my 2 cents
Good Day  :-)

I completely agree with you FSX is beautiful, my only complaint is that when I go to land the frame rates fall drastically (about 5-10 fps) and that really sucks. FS9 looks like crap, but until December and I build my new system with the quad core gpu's now at $300 and a sli setup I will run fs9, then when I have the new system I will change over to only fsx. The games kills my current graphics card. P.S. that is still a really good pc. I only have a ati x1650.

My outdated system
P4 3.06 ht
2 gig's ram
X1650 graphics card
500 gig sata.
19" SyncMaster 941bw

The new system (assuming the first year of pharmacy school comes under $25000 Yes that correct $25000)

Intel Q6600 2.4
4 gig's ddr2
and if I can afford a evga geforce 8800 gtx.
plus a little recycling from the old system.

That is just sad, maybe  FSX is just a dog and no matter what you have it will suck.

I have owned both FSX and FS04 and there things that i like about FS2004, namely the compatibility with Squawkbox, but it doesn't run on anything higher than windows XP. the detail in the aircraft and scenery could be allot better but there are a ton of downloads for this system. FSX is way better but lacks the help of vatsim or Squawkbox. the details are awesome in the aircraft textures and senery could use some help. the addons are scarce but pay off well.

Has FSX's ATC aspects improved compared to FS9? I always found FS9 ATC dreary and depressing. Unfortunatly i don't have a supercomputer to run it so i haven't found out whats its like first hand yet.

First post by the way, hey everyone =]

Try vatsim, only then will FS be "as real as it gets"   :-D :-D
