New Call Signs at KBVI
« on: December 10, 2005, 02:12:28 PM »
Pan Am Flight Academy started their new call sign procedures today at Beaver County Airport.  They're following the leads of Florida Institute of Technology "FIT" and ERAU with their fleet of "Riddle" aircraft, and several other large flight schools.

Many of Pan Am's N-numbers end in "...PA" and there are several similar call signs on the field.  I believe the new procedures were partially precipitated by a fatal accident in California last spring when a Pan Am Piper Seminole decended into a mountain in response to an instruction issued to another aircraft.  The NTSB report follows.

We're pretty ecxited about the new procedures and so far they seem to be working well.
