Does anyone know if the high leval frequencies recieved on this new feed will receive overflying Atlantic traffic ?...or is it just local...

It doesn't appear that the high altitude frequencies that are listed are actually being scanned. You would be able to hear NAT traffic as well as very good controller reception on these frequencies (FL290 and above), but listening over the last couple of days it doesn't appear that they are programmed in the scanner. Personally I'd rather listen to the high altitude stuff exclusively. DJ

No problem. The 3 high altitude frequencies listed all transmit from Goose Bay, so controller reception would be very good. These sectors would also be combined with the southern ones when traffic is slow so at times you would have a very big chunk of airspace covered. These are the high VHF sectors adjacent to the Gander Oceanic areas, so you would hear the westbound traffic making first contact on VHF after coming off the NAT tracks on HF, or getting the handoff to Gander on HF eastbound.

And my usual comment about not trying to scan too many frequencies. The way it's set up now, with just the low sectors works well, I think adding the high sectors would be too much. So hopefully the operator will pick either one or the other, but not both at once. Or maybe alternate between the two (high/low) periodically. My vote would be for the high sectors. Just my 2 cents. if we're turning this into a poll I'd like to vote for high sectors as well... much more interesting for the stuff just about to start the trip across the pond, and even more so, for the stuff that's just arriving westbound FROM the pond... hopefully you're reading and taking notes... but of course, it's your feed so you decide...
