I'm new to the boards but I've always been interested in aviation and I've lost myself for hours just listening to feeds. The occasional light banter and the almost surreal experience of hearing a guy from Queens and pilots from around the world go back-and-forth, understanding each other perfectly, speaks to mankind's capacity for tolerance and understanding.
Aside from dreaming about world peace while I listen to the feeds, I would very much like to have a better understanding of what all the numbers, lingo and terminology means. I've tried to educate myself as best I could using resources available on the internet, but that stuff can be daunting and confusing at times. Could any veteran maybe explain some key concepts that would enhance a newbie's listening experience? Or recommend some books or better websites for a beginner with an interest in aviation communications?
