FAA KIDS ARE IN 'CONTROL'
« on: July 16, 2008, 01:31:09 AM »
I found this on airliners.net
I just graduated from High School this past June. I was considering going to CCBC  for controlling but I don't want to leave the Pittsburgh Area and i am not guaranteed a job at KPIT or KPIT area.  :| :-(

They really aren't offering this at New York either! If you look closely at the bids, (which most reporters have yet to do) the '$100,000 bonus' is actually for current controllers at other facilities to transfer to some hard to staff places. The 'bonus' also breaks down as $27,000 for a paid move and 'up to' $75,000 retention bonus for a three-four year contract, with a max of $25,000 per year. All except the move money is at the discretion of the management. This makes for some great sensationalism news but is as far from reality as it is for the FAA to have the right people in the right place at the right time! (Who would have that thought that when that statement was made four years ago, that the 'right people' were still in grade school!)

Great clip and it was funny - traffic lights for busy runways - would give a whole new meaning to go like hell when the light is yellow.
