Idea to honor Captain Sully.

They should name a fix on V36/J223 "SULLY". It should be located south east of LENDY, between TEB and LGA. This would place it geographically close to the site of the ditching.

It would serve no Air Traffic function. Just do it as a tribute to him.

Bad idea if you consider duplicate named fixes a problem for GPS databases.   In other words, there already is one.  :)

Oh, if there is no air traffic use, then how is that honoring him?  You may as well name a star after him.

With that in mind, how about a partially-submerged couch?

Huh, you ask?   Back in the mid-80s our local paper carried a story about a person who swam around the island of Manhattan.  One of his more vivid experiences in his trek around the island was bumping into a partially submerged couch that was floating along the Hudson.  At least it wasn't a body...
